The Storm series from Muir features a sleek, modern design and a luxury stainless steel finish. Made in Tasmania, Australia, they are fast, strong, and easy to install. VR models feature a low profile clutch cap. VRC models feature a capstan, which can be operated independently to the gypsy for mooring, warping and line hauling.
The Muir Rope Chain Management System (RCMS) works well with combination rodes, easily transitioning between rope and chain. A specialised finger and 180º stripper improve grip and prevent jamming.
Installation is simplified with the Quick Fit Adaptor (included as standard). First mount the windlass to the deck. The motor and gearbox can then be slide onto the spline at any angle and secured with a clip. Removal for maintanence is just as easy.
Manual Operation System (MOS) allows the windlass to be used during malfunction or power loss. Remove the clutch cap or capstan with the clutch handle (included) or a standard winch handle, insert the same handle into the gypsy, and then turn the gypsy to retrieve the anchor.
Muir offers custom options by special request. Options for this model include an extension kit for more deck clearance, as well as 48V DC motor, a round base version, a MORS upgrade, and a bronze version. N.B. Deck switch allows for power up only (deploy anchor manually with clutch). For power up and down, a reversing solenoid and rocker switch must be bought separately.
