By controlling the current and voltage during the charging cycle, Minn Kota® chargers recharge faster than conventional automotive battery chargers while preventing over charging which can damage and shorten battery life.
They include an automatic temperature compensation feature that adjusts the output voltage to assure the battery reaches its gassing threshold and achieves a full charge. The temperature compensation feature also protects the batteries from ‘boiling’.

How to pick the right charger
- Determine how many charging banks your trolling system requires. You need one charging bank for each battery (include your starting battery, if appropriate).
- Determine the speed of recovery/recharging time you require:
- 4 - 6 hours recovery time = 10 Amps per bank
- 10 - 12 hours recovery time = 5 or 6 Amps per bank
